In preparation for my travels in East Africa, I am reading a book on the history of Indian Ocean trade. Here's a poem I found amongst the 500 pages:
"So geographers, in Afric maps,
With savage pictures fill their gaps,
And o'er unhabitable downs,
Place elephants for want of towns."
